Thighplasty, or thigh lift surgery, is a popular cosmetic surgery option for patients seeking firmer, more attractive upper legs. Like other area specific body lifts, thighplasty helps tone and tighten excess, loose, or hanging skin.
is a thigh lift right for me?
For many people, the upper legs become an increasingly problematic area as they age, while others find that the thighs remain stubbornly resistant to diet and exercise after massive weight loss. Fat cells, cellulite, and excess skin can accumulate on the thighs, making people look heavier, older, and less fit than they actually are. Sagging skin on the thighs can also make people feel self-conscious about their appearance. Thigh lift is an excellent way to achieve firmer and more attractive upper legs.
common questions and concerns
Will my scars be noticeable? Thigh lifts do leave scars. However, thigh lift scars are usually located in a relatively inconspicuous location and, in the minds of many patients, pale in comparison to the benefits provided by the procedure.
Advances in laser scar revision has also made this less of a concern for our patients. Post procedural care will be discussed with you during the consultation.
what are my surgical options?
Thigh lifts can be performed as a medial thigh lift, which limits the incision to the upper inner thigh in the groin creases. This procedure is limited in effectiveness as it only removes a small amount of skin and does not tighten the thigh too much. The vertical thigh lift is more effective for very lax thigh skin which extends beyond the upper inner thigh and often involves the area around the knee. The downside is a long scar which is visible with short skirts or short pants. This is done when there are no better options but is a very effective technique.
During the consultation, Dr. Collins will determine the best method based on the patient’s needs and goals. Thigh lift surgery is commonly performed in conjunction with liposuction surgery for even better results.
